Jan 2026 Meeting Minutes!

January 12th 2026


Present: Bryan Podworny, Blair Rankin, Leanne Treloar, Eva Miller, Connie Bergman

Minutes:

Minutes circulated by email. Moved by Leanne Treloar, seconded by Blair Rankin be

accepted as circulated.


Treasures Report:

Motion to accept treasurers report as presented by Leanne Treloar, seconded by

Connie Bergman.


Correspondence:

  • Correspondence received from Westoba regarding term deposit guidelines that will occur with the merger with Assiniboine Credit Union.

  • Email received from WIX ( operates the PLAS website) reminding that yearly fee is due

    Bryan Podworny will pay the yearly fee and will be reimbursed.

  • MAAS has sent an email that this year the AGM will be March 28 th and will likely be an

    in Portage La Prairie. Bryan Podworny will possibly be able to attend part of the day.


Old Business:

  • Kelly Krushelniski has purchased the windows and will install in the spring.

  • Blair Rankin also suggested buying another fan to be installed in the canteen.

  • Meat draw fundraiser at the hotel. The meat has been ordered for the January 19 th ,

  • draw and will be ready on Friday. We will need about 4 volunteers. We will also do a Music Bingo at the same time as tickets are being sold for the meet

    draw. Feb 28 th date now moved to Feb 21 st .

  • Bryan Podworny has applied for the meat raffle through the Manitoba Liquor and

    Lotteries for approval to run a raffle and has now applied for the permit.

  • Bryan Podworny has been working on a digital copy of the Fair Book. A committee will

    need to be formed to review the same. Suggested having a limited number of paper

    copies. Date yet to be set for when we should meet to work on the Fair Book.

  • Deanna Spencer is working on the list for miniature horse show as well is finding a

    judge.

  • Leanne Treloar is still developing a budget.

  • Ongoing discussion regarding a 3-day fair. As with the adding the Miniature horse

    space on the grounds is limited. There are pros and cons to this biggest con being lack

    of volunteers, as people are tired. Suggested moving the car show to Argyle Street.

  • Eva Miller will look into whether the street can be closed off for the afternoon.

  • On going discussion regarding volunteer appreciation. On Fair day we will set up a tent

    for volunteers where they can access non alcoholic refreshments, and snacks. Also, there will have schedules posted as to who is working and times.


New Business:

  • Bryan Podworny will contact Pinnacle Entertainment to book the tent and inflatables.

    Eva Miller will contact the same company that was used last year for the children’s

    entertainment.

  • Bryan Podworny found a used Bulletin Board for sale that cost $400.00. Moved by Blair

    Rankin and seconded by Leanne that we purchase, as it would be another way for

    people to see what events are occurring.

  • Erin McNabb has been in discussion with Bryan Podworny regarding by weekly barrel

    racing, and has been sending out feelers to see if riders would be interested in coming

    to Ninette on a biweekly basis.

  • Easter Breakfast will be held April 4th at the hall.

  • Discussion regarding beef supper will order enough food for 300 people.

  • Discussion regarding having a supper on the Saturday as well. Agreed that in past this

    was not well received by the public. Also takes away business from the other resturants

    in the community. Blair Rankin will ask the food truck about supply something such as

    pork on a bun for around the supper hour.

  • Discussion regarding the Beer Gardens on Fair Day. There is limited hard alcohol used,

    much of it is returned and it becomes difficult to get rid of the excess mix. Agreed by

    those present that this will not be purchased this year. Pros of this is that less work for

    volunteers, will not need to purchase mix, and less glasses. There were be just beer and coolers for sale.

  • Canada Day will be on Wednesday discussion regarding at 3 PM with some more

    entertainment and corn hole tournament or something similar. Leanne Treloar stated

    there will be extra funds available through grants as this is 100 th anniversary on the

    village of Ninette. As well perhaps having limited hours for access to beer and alcohol.

  • Discussion regarding having local bands

  • Storage parking Leanne Treloar will contact the individual who has the motor home

    parked on the grounds.

  • There are still old signs on building on the south end of the horse barn that needs to be

    updated.

  • Leanne Treloar will invoice Ice Hole Fishing for the yearly rental fee for use of the barns

    for his signage.

  • Eva Miller submitted the application for the Liquor and Lotteries sponsorship and grants today. Will also look into sponsorship for golf tournament. Discussion for suggestions for infrastructure grant 2026 include gravel for riding arena,

    gate and fencing for the cattle and miniature horse show.
