June 28^TH,  2026, PELICAN LAKE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY MEETING

Called to order by Bryan Podworny at 2:10 pm

Old Business

The harrow that has been placed on Facebook Market Place for sale selling for $1600.00.   The harrow presently is at Garry Moloney’s place.

Canada Day food has been ordered, coleslaw from hotel, buns and cake from Rolling Pin.  Kendall Carlisle  will pick up pork at 4 PM on Canada Day. Will charge $20.00 (adults) $15.00 (seniors) and $10.00 (6 to 10).  More chips and drinks will have to be ordered for the canteen. 

No musician has been identified.

There will be one bouncy castle and foam party both will attend for 2 hours starting at 6 PM.  Partial cost of this will be covered by the Ninette LUD.

New Business

Review of the fair was discussed.  Highlights were the following areas.

The trailer that was brought in was not used by the volunteers, however, worked out well for storage of the canteen supplies.

Feedback received from Shawna Peters regarding the mini horse arena was that a porta-pottie closer to the arena would be good.  More space in the barn for the horses, and a container for watering the horses.  Better communication regarding condition of the horse arena.

Friday supper was poorly attended thus lots of food left over.  Felt that perhaps the cold weather, and a retirement supper may have effected the attendance. 

Vendors some concerns that the a vendor had needed electrical, and it was not readily available.  Feedback from some vendors is that they did not like were they were placed.  Discussion as to in the future move vendors to Victoria Street east of the hall.  Pro’s and con’s to this.

Beer Garden attendance down slightly, however, still well attended.  Kendal reported running out of rye and coke.

Better communication between volunteer coordinator and volunteers as to who is doing what and where.  Volunteers working beef supper were not sure of what to do, as well there was lack of volunteers to work the bar ticket sales for late shift.   Also more communication as to how many volunteers are needed and when for parking. 

Cattle show was very successful.  More classes had to be added as there was more participants than anticipated.   In future if there is more cattle, we may need to use far east side of the barn.

Gail Campbell reported having to look for equipment such as rakes, measuring tapes, timers.  Suggest purchasing equipment such as the timers.  Suggestion made to use the infrastructure grant for the timers, as they cost about $4000.00.   Next year she suggest there be an area marked as the warm-up area.

Car show there needed to be better communication between the sponsors and the organizers.  Band was good with lots of compliments.  Drag racing went well .  Rope of the parking area and need people to direct traffic. 

Kids activities no concerns.

We need to assign someone to take care of the food permit from the Health Inspector.

Doug Treloar wondered about in the future having St. John Ambulance on site.  He will look into the cost.

Two way radios would be good to have.

Ag on the Moove did not happen as it was to windy.

Ag Olympics and Cornhole was cancelled as there was no pre-registration.  Perhaps we could hold in later part of the summer.

Next year date of fair June 13 and 14^th.

Discussion regarding having another beef raffle however, make the draw in conjunction with the Fair.
